How 'bout when a restaurant is out of something? They tell the wait staff to "86" the item. Also you get buried in a 8' long coffin 6' under... creepy, huh? [Comment by: JP    ]
I've worked in a restaurant and I was told that "86"ing an item is an old military term for needing to restock on that item. [Comment by: Chris G    ]

this is a term I have heard lots of times in washington. like "I can't go there... Last time I got so drunk they 86ed me" [Comment by: wes    ]
To my understanding, this term originates from the US MArines. 86. To throw away or get rid of something. From the number of the form originally used to remove an item from a stock record. You could 86 something by throwing it off the side of a ship. (though I wouldn't recommend it) [Comment by: Kathy    ]
86 skeedoo is from the roaring '20's and it means "to leave". I always heard (and used) 86 as a cook to mean we were out of a food item. as in "86 the cheesecake, I dropped the last piece." [Comment by: Clevelander    ]

Is this true or just scatalogical humour? [Comment by: The Critic    ]
This is the true definition of "Ace": When one exerts soo much force while taking a "Duce" that it is unnessesary to whipe because the fecies came out clean. A precautionary whipe is usually used to ensure an "Ace" has been achieved. [Comment by: Joe Dipshit    Rated:3/5 ]

In the States, "aggro" is an abbreviation of "aggressive," specifically describing someone in the act of angry, violent assault. Commonly seen on the Jerry Springer Show and at drunk frat parties across the US. [Comment by: sally    Rated:4/5 ]
'I'm not going to THAT pub again. That guy's there and I don't need the aggro!' [Comment by: Funkyfairycakes    ]

It looks as if the usage (meaning) in the US is different from the usage in Commonwealth countries (UK, Australia, NZ etc.). The US usage seems to lean towards actual violence (like a short form of 'aggression'), and in Commonwealth countries more towards bother, trouble and harassment (like a short form of 'aggravation'). A typical Commonwealth English usage would be, "Lisa? Haven't seen her for months. She was always on at me for some f*ckin' thing or other, and it was just too much aggro, so I left." Or maybe, "I found out she was married, though the bitch had never told me, and I didn't need that kind of aggro." [Comment by: Gairlochan    Rated:4/5 ]
