yes in america it is something very different. if you have a lot of spunk, it is describing your personality. Comment by: arctichimpanzees
Actually, Spunk in the US means semen also, but it's usually used as a synonym for 'vitality'. Comment by: Al
kinda like that kid has balls or that kid has spunk. same bloody thing lol Comment by: zoey    Rated:4/5
Spunk is a common term for semen in The States. Nobody, except coffin dodgers, uses it to describe personality traits. Comment by: Antonius Block
As far as I know, 'spunk' means seamen in America too. Comment by: That Guy
"He showed alot of spunk dancing." = "He showed a lot of SEMEN dancing." Comment by: JayDee    Rated:5/5
LMAO! So does this mean I shouldn't say, "I'm feeling spunky?" Comment by: kiki_d
I've only heard Spunk used as a personality trait but that was in sitcoms from the 80s. Comment by: Al    Rated:5/5
Spunk (as in semen) is used here in the U.S. too. But we also use spunky to mean energetic or lively. It can be said: "he's spunky" or "he has some spunk". Because the word has both meanings, it's not always safe to use around juvenile people. That's probably why its use is on the decline. Comment by: Jessi    Rated:4/5
In the United States people who use the word spunk as a reference to semen often tend to be very socially immature and/or watch lots of pornography. It would generally be considered a very crude reference. Comment by: AmericanMe    Rated:3/5
I'm fifty, in the US, and I've never heard it to mean semen. If you have spunk you are bold and energetic. Not used that often, though. Comment by: Joy
In sex and the city Samantha says: I had a guy with the funkiest tasting spunk :) Comment by: Lola    Rated:4/5
uh, no it doesn't. Comment by: US rep
I'm 33 (not dodging coffins currently) and I use spunk to mean feisty. Although I am aware of its use for semen, it's extremely crass and I would never say it. It sounds like something someone in an adult movie would say. In my world (college-educated and moderate - not extremely conservative or liberal), people are more likely to use the term to mean feisty, not semen. Comment by: poppy
I'm sure American "seamen" will be thrilled to hear their name is synonymous with spunk. Please, feel free to NOT mention that to the next Navy Seal you meet, as it could be hazardous to your health. You may want to watch your SPELLING. Comment by: karen1971
